The Teen Titans are a fictional superhero team appearing in American comic books published by DC Comicsoften in an eponymous monthly series. As the group's name suggests, the members are teenage superheroes, many of whom have acted as sidekicks to DC's premier superheroes in the Justice League. The original team later becomes known as the Titans when the members age out of their teenage years, while the Teen Titans name is continued by subsequent generations of young heroes.

Emily Lipstein, Earther: So how did you come up with the idea to start the account?
On TV, as in real life, Halloween is a time for candy, scares, and, most importantly, dressing up. Television youths have long reckoned with the dilemma of how to celebrate a holiday that underscores the tension between childhood and adulthood, a time when one overindulging ritual is replaced by another kind of socialized excess. More recently, in the second season of Stranger Thingsour preteen heroes turning up to middle school on October 31 dressed as the Ghostbusters when none of the other kids are in costume turns what might once have been a social slam dunk into an embarrassment. Explorations of identity are at their most potent during adolescence, and Halloween is the perfect excuse to experiment with the person you long to be.

But then mxmtoon went viral online, and her pipe dream of having a music career started to become feasible. Mxmtoon had been making content on the internet since middle school, from YouTube where she posted original songs, advice videos, and family-vacation montages to the now-defunct Vine. Users can select from a database of songs, effects, and sound bites, meaning a lot of the content manifests as funny mini-music videos.
